Does this exist?

A computer, able to be used as a musical instrument (live computer music) where it is possible for a normal human being to understand and repair most if not the whole hardware and software?

I understand this means A LOT of compromises on what it is actually able to do, but it would make an interesting project as a contrast to the mainstream tools out there today. Something that would survive the apocalypse?

@lislegaard I'm switching back and forth between MNT Reform and Framework laptops, playing live shows mainly with the latter for performance reasons, as my setup is a bit heavy with lots of VSTs.

Reform is more on the understandable side (open schematics, off the shelf parts); Framework is not open hardware, but it's user-repairable with most parts available through the online store and easily replaceable.

@eigenform

I think a normal modern general computer might be too complex to fit the bill on this one, but these machines sure as hell aight no macbooks.

I have been drooling quite a bit over that new pocket reform.

Dont need it but waaant it.
