After eight years, today I rebuilt the rear hub of my #CycloCross bike. It was remarkably clean inside, despite the atrocious conditions the bike has been in.

Hope hubs have long been a favourite of mine. Now even more so.

There is also something nice about blue grease. Surely it will make me faster, won’t it? 😉

@DurableAce I've been told those aren't worth servicing. (or was that freewheels?) But then again, I've also been told that about my old brifter's innards, and I had a great time rebuilding that. What do you think?

@or Hi! I’ve not heard that about Hope hubs. The opposite, in fact. The quality is excellent, so when they do need attention, I think the hubs are worth the effort. The hubs were running fine. I decided to rebuild them as I needed to rebuild the wheel to replace a worn rim.

@DurableAce Oh, I should've clarified that I meant those mechanisms in general. Yours indeed looks finely crafted! Perhaps I should take a look inside mine just for fun.

@or good luck if you do! I would be interested in what you find. Part of the nice thing about Hope is they seem to be designed to be maintained and they produce some very useful videos, like this one.
