A passing man from a distant country tutored her in a dance-like style of martial arts, before leaving again on his journey. Her fighting style now uses a polearm & takes a lot of inspiration from #wuxia

Funnily enough for this #Caturday I'm following up the previous Rahna pic with another, for a double dose of cheetah!

Just some #OC #lore thoughts this time around...
Rahna's original family and tribe are nomadic, but the desert they call home is the result of a massive battle of magics in the distant past. By the time the exchange had ended, it had left a sizeable crater filled with a strange blue crystal. Over the centuries this collection of crystals was worn away, its fragments spread out across the desert by the sands and the winds.
While not very valuable on their own, they are excellent conductors of magic, and one of the main things her tribe bartered with, apart from their expertise as local guides and their other natural crafts. Most are unaware of this property however, with the crystals' origins long forgotten, and simply regard them as cheap, readily available crystals for crafting jewelry.
The crystals on Rahna's outfit make use of this ability, carrying a protection spell to deflect blows, while appearing to be but shiny baubles to those without magesight.
Took me long enough to find an artist for it, but I finally have a ref sheet for Rahna. It leans back towards the original image in a lot of ways, but also consolidates everything that has shown up since to make for a more consistent appearance going forward.
Don't know if or when I'll get to play her again, like most of my RPG-sourced characters, but at least I'll still have all this neat art of her!
One other thing I really like about this is that, while fire IS the primary element honored by her old tribe, she really does wield all four, and she got to play more with the water aspect in this one, rather than yet another fire-based image.

After leaving the sands of her home to seek out her former mentor, Rahna found herself passing through lands both unfamiliar and unfriendly. Town after town, she found her kind unwelcome; constantly under suspicion of trickery and thievery, and only begrudgingly allowed the worst rooms and food the inn had available. At times, even the weather itself seemed to be against her. Still, her journey led ever onward...

Like a storm, Rahna wields her glaive, raining judgment down upon her foes with deadly skills that draw on the elements themselves. Though her tribe put the fire of the sands above all, she knows that they all have their place in the dance of death... even the normally life-giving water.
