Walking Iris at Bok Tower Gardens FL #FloweringFriday #bloomscrolling

@frankiespurlock

Oh, I miss Bok Tower, how does it look? Have the azaleas bloomed? Have the trees continued to recover?

Almost impossible to believe it's been 20 years since Charlie.

@czarbucks The kids area is larger, they’ve added things. But the tower and hill gardens are pretty much the same.

@frankiespurlock

One of our first trips to Bok Tower, only months before Charley destroyed so many of the old trees.

Afterward, I went and volunteered to help clear out debris, only to be sent home the second day because Frances was bearing down, too.

Now 20 years ago, March 2004.

One evening in 2007 we witnessed an amazing event here, where they had Project Bandaloop, a dance team who dance vertically, perform on the side of the tower as the sun went down. It's one of the most memorable experiences of my life.

@czarbucks Yeah 2004 was rough. I was pretty poor then and renting. I partied through Charley, got drunk alone through Frances, and by Ivan and Jeanne I was broke and dried out. Our power was out for two weeks. Good times

@frankiespurlock

LOL.

Yeah, it was a scary time. We were without power for a while, can't remember how long. Just the clean up, and then again and again and again.

And for YEARS afterward, flying back in to Orlando with the sea of blue tarps.
