HAM suggestions needed. Does anyone using sat TV LNB to listen to the sky with SDR?

I plan to plug those dual-output power supply (e.g. CL-DCADJ) and switch between 13V and 18V on bias-T. Is there anything I should reconsider? Maybe it's to powerfull? Ideally I'd like to run it on the usb power delivery. πŸ€”

Got this kit for ~25€ because it's small and looks cool.

@UT3UMS Ideally get a LNB with a PLL rather than a DRO. TV LNB's using DRO's drift a lot of using narrowband modes, the drift doesn't matter for wide band TV

@g0fcu thanks! I've read that they might drift. Any suggested good brand names? Second hand market is full of cheap nonames

also will I be able to use another LNB, non spherical?

@UT3UMS Octagon used to be the go to brand but not sure they are available now. This link has an alternative https://www.passion-radio.com/lnb-pll/lnb-othernet-978.html
Not sure what you mean about another non-spherical LNB. This link might be useful: https://wiki.batc.org.uk/Es'hail-2_LNBs_and_Antennaes

@UT3UMS Certainly. Not sure how familiar you are with amateur radio satellites, but there's of course the #QO-100 satellite on the geostationary orbit transmitting on the 10 GHz band. I think it's also possible to decode (some) commercial broadcasts (DVB-S2 maybe?) if they're not encrypted. Apps like SDRangel have integrated DVB-S decoding.

Attached a photo of my RX and TX antenna setup for QO-100.
