Transferred all my files from my 2014 Macbook Pro to a slightly newer 2019 Macbook Pro (the first model after they got rid of the "butterfly keyboard").

I'll miss my 2014 clunker. Its story tracks the last 10 years of my life (personal and professional).

It started as my work laptop during my time at a startup where I worked entirely too much and stressed myself out over literally everything - isn't that how you're supposed to be successful? I used it to learn React, a framework I still use (and mostly still love) today.

After that job collapsed, it became the device where I'd go to unplug from the world through long hours of watching anime / chess videos on YouTube. I programmed my second chess engine (https://github.com/tildedave/ra-chess-engine) using it, putting in a lot of good hours getting the board logic working during a beach trip to North Carolina, where I now live.

During the pandemic I used it to play through Hollow Knight, Celeste, and Undertale.

In its final phase of life, I used it mostly for watching long YouTube videos while doing long cooking sessions. It still performed well enough to solve the worst Advent of Code problems.

It's survived numerous food spills, a battery replacement, and some very aggressive interruption from my toddler when she wanted me pay attention to her 🙂

Thanks for everything, zwingli.

Oh geez, CALVA's "interrupt execution" actually works on the new laptop. That's a lot less frustrarting.
