Got onions?

In late summer I always plant Walla Walla onion seed in our unheated mini greenhouse. There were several times this past winter when temps went down to the mid teens.

Yesterday I moved those onion plants those into one of our raised beds. If the forecast is for frost then I have a piece of 2-mil plastic I will drape over the bed on a temporary support system. These will be our first onions sometime this summer.

Also yesterday I planted 3 kinds of storage onion and more Walla Walla in the greenhouse. Some of this seed is from 2023 so if it does not germinate well then I will replant with 2024 seed.

@mappingsupport But, are they Walla Walla onions if you aren't in Walla Walla? 🤔

@ai6yr Well, since we live near Redmond and Redmond is west of Walla Walla, seems like they would be W3 onions - Walla Walla West is the best.

Hey - I made a poem.

@mappingsupport Ha! I've tried the variety grown locally here, but they do not taste like "Walla Walla" onions, IMHO. Fine, but not the same.
