It's amazing how many computer brands didn't survive the 80s. In this blog post, I give a high-level overview of 80s computer brands. Did I leave out your favorite? I hope I didn't. But I probably left out someone's favorite. #RetroComputing #retropc https://dfarq.homeip.net/80s-computer-brands/
80s computer brands

The 90s were a time of explosive growth for computers. Here's a look back at more than 35 computer brands from the 90s. How many of them do you remember?

The Silicon Underground
@siliconundergro As far as I can see, you only forgot a few: the venture of #Kyocera into the #MSX craze under their #Yashica brand, the very sexy #Sord M5 and #Memotech MTX (further proto-MSX machines akin to #Spectravideo) and #EACA, e.g.. BTW there were #Laser computers prior to their #AppleII and PC clones that were loosely based on either the #TRS80 or their #Creativision console respectively.
@Thorsten_Guenther thank you! I've added those to my list. I think that brings me to 10.

@siliconundergro Fun article! The Grundy NewBrain deserves a slot!

Apparently it was popular among mathematicians.

@fluidlogic thank you! Grundy is on my list of brands to add now too.
@siliconundergro Thanks! It's such an unintentionally comical name, and so British-sounding. The story of the #Grundy #NewBrain is interesting. It was a groundbreaking design, but the delays caused by the project being shuffled from owner to owner meant that when it was eventually released, it was underwhelming in many respects. The fact that it was a candidate machine for the BBC computer literacy project is also tantalising.
@fluidlogic that's indeed an interesting might-have-been. I should also look at the other BBC computer literacy project candidates and note those, I know there were several. Thank you!
@siliconundergro I always wanted a Basis-108 (Apple ][+ clone, + Z-80 CPM) <http://oldcomputer.info/gallery.php?p=Museum/8-bit/Basis_108>
