GPU acceleration isn't always faster. Wayland is supposed to be faster because it utilises the GPU. Well, Firefox had the same idea with WebRender. Now, when I scroll on my poor laptop's Intel HD 4000, both Firefox and Wayland are fighting over GPU resources resulting in less FPS compared to X11. The CPU is almost idle. 😅

@fell that's a two part issue firstly the Firefox issue, as it locks the fps of the browser to 60, change it using layout.frame_rate in about:config
Then this also could be caused by Intel's dumpster fire drivers, consider setting the DPM of your card to high instead of auto.
@fell it's still awful, as cruel as it sounds, there are issues I experienced over a year ago that are still there, not to mention that 6 has been a complete bust for a lot of people.
When I want to experience Wayland, it's either with Hyprland or GNOME for me.
But do make the change I mentioned for Firefox, it will help tons.
