And the result of the poll is in. About half of all men have never been given flowers. I can only image that this is largely down to gender stereotyping; flowers are seen a feminine gift. This is such a shame as most men actually like flowers.
@geomannie my now wife bought me a red rose for our first Valentine's. Since then I've carried on with the flowers but she buys me beer. She was a keeper.
@Brianrh That is lovely that girlfriend, now wife bought you a red rose on your first valentine's. I'm well into my 7th decade and I've very kindly been given a lot of beer, but I'm still waiting for my first flower.๐Ÿ˜”
@geomannie plants, yes, but I donโ€™t think flowers, unless you count a few daisies when I was a kid
@geomannie
No floral bouquets, chocolates yes.
My daughters have taken me to a garden nursery on Father's Day or my birthday, and told me that I have a $100 budget covered by them. And then they help me plant everything. Awesome kids.
@geomannie Yes but they were from a guy who became creepily attached after one bad date. He showed up at my work and it was unsettling.
@geomannie I'm a woman but I've given flowers to men on many occasions.
@irina We need more like you!
@geomannie personally I don't like flowers, mostly because my allergies, but also because flowers are for bees, not for people.
@geomannie @madgeface I (cis heterosexual woman) once sent flowers to a guy. Weโ€™ve been together almost 30 years now.

@geomannie Yes, but I think only in sympathy. Not romantically.

That's a really interesting question! I suspect just because of gender stereotypes...

@constantorbit Gender stereotyping is why I asked the question. Flowers are a very popular gift and most men like flowers. but it seems a large percentage have never been given any. Interesting indeed.
@geomannie I've been buying my dad a bouquet for his birthday for the last few years. He LOVES them. Normalize buying flowers for the men in your life.
@geomannie Yes; specifically, a single cut rose with a note. In local #ModelUnitedNations conferences here there'll be staff members selling those, intended to be sent to your crush or whatnot. In my case it was in a very small local conference, and it was simply a "keep up the good work" note sent from my team lead. #ModelUN
