Friendly PSA for cyclists, now that the weather here is getting nice-ish and you're hopping on the bike for a ride for the first time since last fall:

Please use your bell.

If you do not have a bell, use your voice.

Use proper signalling for turns and stops and slow-downs.

Thank you.

@arielkroon @WaterlooEvents @waterlooregion Good reminder. For sure thatโ€™s important in the in the Northern Hemisphere right now. ๐Ÿ˜€
@CyclingGuide @WaterlooEvents @waterlooregion I have nearly been mown down while out walking on the trails several times these past few days. I applaud folks' enthusiasm, but I'm vague, have very slow reflexes, and I guess am hard of peripheral hearing because "approaching bike noise" doesn't register in my brain nearly fast enough. And that's without my earbuds in! I'm sure I'm not the only pedestrian with these issues either. I want everyone to be safe out there.
@arielkroon @CyclingGuide @WaterlooEvents @waterlooregion 100% agreed on the need for people on bikes to be careful and considerate around people who are walking, and to let them know when approaching. I actually had a conversation about it with someone this morning.

Also, if you don't have a bell, get one... The city of Kitchener has been giving these away at various events over the past year. Otherwise, it will only cost you a few dollars.
