How to create UX culture in FOSS @scottjenson

1/2 bc this was so good

- baby steps! celebrating each PR completion = creating a cultural understanding of what UX is (wow celebration creates culture whaaaaat)
- Talks about tools for our "community" rather than tools for "citizens" because most OSS tools are for devs (Hey this is us!!!) (wow what if we switched)
- get UXers inside the project! Inside the cycles, the team, the processes
- UX takes time. Lots of projects don't have it

2/2

- motive is not personal (🔥). People in OSS aren't just "scratching their own itch", they do chop wood and carry water, stuff that's not "fun," but having a pull request accepted is 😇😇
- UX designer has to be *part* of the team, break up UX deliverables, but also need to be part of bigger projects (not just one PR at a time). So tiny chunks, but part of a cohesive idea/plan (sounds like a tricky balance)
- seems like middle-sized FOSS projects have the hardest time
