Ankimo is made with monkfish liver, like creamy foie gras.
Pairing with saké or other alcohol is preferred.
It is often served as a sushi.

@JoBlakely Oh, you have experience of eating ankimo.
Izakaya tends to serve ankimo but not all.
@JPsensei_ I tried it in a small izakaya in New York City a number of years ago that served a dish of three fish livers. Have sought it out since. I also like cod liver…but not as much as the monkfish.
@JoBlakely I didn't imagine we could eat ankimo in NYC.
But I recommend to come to Japan. People cannot eat much real Japanese food in foreign countries 😋
