Never buy anything from Dyson's website.

Never, ever, ever, ever.

Been fighting with them to resolve a duplicate order (from their website crashing) since Black Friday. They've had the return since January 4. I still don't have a refund. (Just filed a chargeback. I hate doing that.)

I've lost HOURS to this. I've never seen a company with such poor basic service.

@marcoarment Imagine this. They were planning on introducing an electric car 🤯
@marcoarment To be fair, their products are pretty rubbish too.
@ZS @marcoarment Any recommendations on alternative cordless vacuums that are better?
@classyraptor @ZS @marcoarment I recently replaced my broken Dyson with Shark. It’s far from perfect but really good for the money.
@classyraptor @marcoarment I couldn't recommend anything as I still use an old Nilfisk that's over 30 years old. My parents have a Nilfisk that's close to 60 years old and still going.
@classyraptor @ZS @marcoarment went through two dysons, then got this and haven't had to think about it since https://www.mi.com/global/product/xiaomi-vacuum-cleaner-g10-plus/

@marcoarment same if you have a defective product under warranty and try to deal with email support. 14 days to get a (wrong) answer. Nothing gets solved

Found out that at least my city had a repair center and fixed my issue in less than 24 hours. Just have to show up, no appointment.

If you’re far from a repair center, you are entirely fucked.

@jerome @marcoarment I legit found a dude on yelp who came to my apartment and replaced the clutch on mine for 75 bucks. Indie vacuum repair is a thing and they’re great.
@marcoarment Its always very tiring when something like this happens. I bought an Italian Espresso machine from a small coffee roaster with online shop last Black Friday and still don't have a working machine. Hope third time's the charm (still waiting 5 weeks for the third replacement). I'm down 4 phone calls and about 10 emails.

@marcoarment As someone that clicks “Accept" on chargebacks in Stripe to just move on with my life, I thank you for at least contacting them first.

People that go straight to a chargeback are not helpful to society.

Though your example does not help this cause 🤣

@marcoarment I guess the vacuum company sucks.
@marcoarment
I guess it's naive to assume that premium-priced products should come with decent customer service.
@marcoarment I had a similar experience back in October. Took close to two months to cancel my order, which was stuck in "Ready to Ship” for 6 weeks. Finally got a refund, purchased from Best Buy, and had it delivered in 3 days.
@marcoarment interestingly, their *in person* support is fantastic. I had a warranty issue once and went in to a repair center, and it was very quick and competent.
@kemayo @marcoarment yep the repair center are great if you’re lucky enough to live near one. Email is awful.
@marcoarment I’ve spent a fortune on Dyson stuff. Vowed never again due to the founders support for Brexit. I recently had to replace my vacuum cleaner. I bought a Henry.
@marcoarment HAHAHAHA the same thing happened to me! Duplicate order, also did return on Jan 4, they sent me two vacuums, it took a month and three 45 minute calls to successfully get a return label. What finally worked was calling them and having them send to a plain old gmail.com address because it seems their logistics system won’t send to fastmail???
@marcoarment I bought a refurbished Dyson cordless vacuum one time. Despite the slip of paper detailing how thoroughly they test their refurbs, it was DOA. Not a great sign. Huge hassle to get them to do something about it. Eventually they sent me a brand new unit, which sounds great, right?! But it was still the worst vacuum I’ve ever owned and I won’t buy another Dyson.
@marcoarment Their terrible order support for their products is only bested by their terrible engineering.
@marcoarment my dad always says their products are “ghostbusters aesthetic”.
@marcoarment Urgh, yeah. They really do suck. Orders cancelled for no reason, checkout pages which just display a spinning throbber forever with no way to progress… Also, James Dyson himself is a Brexit-supporting dipshit. Never buying something from them ever again.
@marcoarment One of those reasons why Threads integration would be good, is you could tag @[email protected]

@marcoarment Given how much of a massive lying arsehole Dyson was over Brexit, I’m happily continuing along a similar path to you – although I have been for 8+ years now.

I hope you get it sorted.

@marcoarment
I never buy anything Dyson because he’s a brexity cunt.
@marcoarment same thing happened to me. Due to issues with their website they sent me 4 vacuums. I refused delivery of 3 of them so the courier sent them back but it took months to resolve and get my refunds. I do like
The vacuum though.
@marcoarment As I’ve gotten older, I use chargebacks more. Two chances to fix a mistake should be enough for anyone.
@marcoarment I tried to order one (1) replacement filter on Dyson.com with Apple Pay. They charged me 4 times and sent me 4 filters. It’s been an absolute nightmare to resolve
@marcoarment I second this. The only way to make it worse is to buy Dyson “Factory Refurbished”. It’s not like Apple Refurb. Dyson shipped us a vacuum with literal vomit already in the canister.
@marcoarment This is why I love AMEX. I try to resolve every issue directly with the vendor, but when problems come up I turn to AMEX and they credit me 100% of the time. And with less hassle!
@marcoarment sorry this has happened to you but interestingly I have the exact opposite experience in Australia. I’ve had multiple Dyson vacuums where things have failed over the years, customer service has been great and frequently shipped free replacement parts that arrived the next day.
