#mastodon is #broken by design.
When I open a post on a different server, I get only a fraction of replies, retoots and favourites displayed. As a rule, most posts look to me like nobody is reacting, like there is a boring silence. When in reality there might be a real discussion going on.
E.g. this toot by @404mediaco got 667 replies, >900 retoots and ~450 favourites, while when I look it up through my profile, I see only 13 replies, ~60 retoots and 0(!) favourites.
It's #asocialmedia
@ditol @404mediaco IIRC, the only way to get a reliable view (replies, stars, boosts) is to visit the origin instance. The local instance's version of the post will only show interactions it already knows about, e.g. by local instance's users, by remote users some local user is following, etc.)
@flopp @404mediaco
Which means, mastodon is broken by design, again.
The problem is: this happens with accounts I follow on other instances too. Since I follow the account, my instance should "know about" interactions with their toots, right? But nothing of the sort.
