1000 Day Album Challenge (#58) Led Zeppelin: Physical Graffiti (1975) [27.02.24]
just believe, and you can't go wrong / in the light, you will find the road / you will find the road…
Physical Graffiti was the first Led Zeppelin album for me. it was released in 1975 so I was probably 12 or 13 when I bought it. back when Led Zeppelin was one of my favorite bands I would have to say that this was my favorite album by them.
now I rarely if ever return to listen to a full album by Led Zeppelin. I have certain songs I listen to and add to playlists. Boogie with Stu is the tune I return to the most. I can’t even say what I thought about it as a kid. my sense is that it was all about about the three Zeppelin classics on side two for me then – Houses of the Holy, Trampled Under Foot, and Kashmir.
I have a bit of a complicated relationship with Led Zeppelin. I would say that Led Zeppelin and Kiss were my favorite bands from 1975 through 1978 or 79. that’s when Punk and New Wave made their presence known in my life. I listened to LZ and Kiss less and less. by the time I graduated from college I barely listened at all.
listening now – maybe I should return to Trampled Under Foot more often. it’s a Heavy Metal band getting funky. one of my favorite parts of the 1000 Day Album project os that I delve into my musical memories and have a chance to reinvigorate the ones that are no longer near the surface but clearly still a significant part of my personal musical stew.
