new normalized signed floating point game review scale (-1.0 to 1.0) where 1.0 is "adds tremendous value to capitalist economies, prolonging their dominance" and -1.0 is "removes value from capitalist economies, hastening their demise". Fortnite is a 0.98785, Doom (1993) is a -0.26525. what's the closest to -1.0 we've gotten
(to be clear this is not a serious proposal, but you can decide that it's serious and live your life accordingly)
@jplebreton The Windows 95 shutdown screen.
@jplebreton hmm where does untitled goose game sit

@jplebreton in the past few years, it's felt like I've seen more praxis associated with disco Elysium than anything else
@jplebreton Minesweeper and Solitaire?

@jplebreton Snake... Tetris? Solitaire? Original Counter-Strike or DotA... Minecraft before Microsoft got a hold of it

Despite the initial payment, the mod scenes in Warcraft 3 and Half-Life 1 and 2 did keep a lot of people busy for years

@jplebreton Maybe NetHack? Or OpenTT?
@posniewski In certain households nethack rates negative <out of range>. Ahem.

That game series has drained every economy’s productivity so badly…
@jplebreton @mcc Kingdoms of Amalur removed a hell of a lot of value from the economy, just not in a way that was intended.
@jplebreton The Portal games are pretty anti-capitalist.
@jplebreton this got me thinking, we could probably make a float type clamped to -1:1 with much more resolution. And I'm wondering if your examples have exact representation in float16
@jplebreton honestly, I think #blaseball falls on that end of the scale. Ended because it never became profitable, worked to elect progressive to local city government, radicalized its players against capitalism and other assorted gods, and fostered community among groups traditionally marginalized by mainstream sports. One of its most notable outgrowths was an anarcho-communist queer music collective who would give you their music for free if you asked nicely.

@ephesossh
Blaseball was the best. Still miss it.

#whoskicks

@jplebreton the economic damage from multiple intelligence leaks by players of World of Tanks is likely in the billions, and also has the effect of leveling the military playing field in the info space. Given mil personnel of many nations seem to be playing it and leaking for clout still, suggests it's a time and money sink for them, bleeding defense funds from dozens of governments at once.

Despite the micro transactions supporting capitalism, the net damage probably puts it at at least -.5

@Beachhart lol, that's pretty cool
@jplebreton Hmmm.. Duke Nukem Forever? Anthem? Mass Effect Andromeda?
@jplebreton
I am not sure where to put the original unix wargames game (from the bsdgames collection) on this scale ;-)
@jplebreton Any live service game that folds in two months
