Dear all:

if you are clearing your "old" #computer #books library, throwing them away, giving them to charity or getting rid of them: Please, contact me first. I'd be glad to get some off your hands! I'm paying a fair price for the book and assume all shipping and handling costs ( depending to where you live ).

By all means, please DO NOT get rid of your copy of "The AWK Programming Language" by Aho and Kernighan.

Feel free to DM me. There may be other books I may be interested in!

Thank you

@gnemmi i love how geeky you are. 😆
@gnemmi Wow. I wish I'd known this about a year ago. I gave about 22 #computer #books #software #manuals 2 a Thrift store here in my area.
I worked 4 IBM for 28 yrs as an EE & computer tech. I built my own PC in 1990 & I had collected several manuals & "how to" books, as well as computer language books that discussed the history of computer software.
Everything from Lotus 123 to Basic & Norton Utilities..
Like I said, about 22 of them went 2 the Thrift store.
I still have some. I'll let U know.

@gnemmi What do you mean? Why would anyone ever want to get rid of "The AWK Programming Language"? I don't understand...? 🙂

Sorry, I'll see myself out and let you adults continue your conversation...

@gnemmi Too late, most of mine just went! Including the Aho 'dragon' book. But how old is "old"? I still have 1970s Burroughs mainframe manuals around somewhere.
@gnemmi Hope you can find and preserve many copies of this treasure! I got mine still in the nineties, from Amazon, of all places. Imported these and other classics when they were still in stock. Mine are not for sale but I'm sure you'll get offers soon enough!
@gnemmi @rybson man, I wish someone from my own field would come along and take all my no-longer-needed books off my hands! Good luck with finding the ones you want!
@gnemmi "Mastering Fedora core 5?"
@gnemmi What you're doing is awesome, but trust me; if I don't want it, no one does. :)
@gnemmi I’ll make a list for you in 2 weeks. Are you interested in old Apple stuff. Are you just interested in program and system management books and the like or general books about computer culture? What constitutes old (e.g. 20 years or older)? Are you interested in old software packages?

@gnemmi oh god that reminds me of ... i think there was an old computer book we used as a doorjamb back in college. long time ago.

Aho and Kernighan sound like an interesting combo

@gnemmi So I guess you are a "#Librarian" of sorts - or rather #Archivist...

Good to know - we need more people like you...

@gnemmi Are you interested in ones from the 90s and willing to pay shipping from Canada?
@gnemmi commenting for later. I do have some old tech books I’d like to get rid of, but not just throw away.
@gnemmi I would also take the awk book. I recently got the C programming language, and I'd also like to have TUPE if it's not too expensive
@gnemmi I have a first edition but it sure doesnt say DOS on it. The updated edition is nice as well. White cover goes well with my other Unix books.
@gnemmi I've been neglecting this subject. I will work on it today.
@gnemmi I hope you don't mind this format but I took photos of my bookshelves and hopefully you can read the titles. If you need clarification of any of them let me know. I also have boxed sets of WebObjects and the original Mac OS X Server (predates Mac OS X 1.0). I also have Beyond The Mac is Not a Typewriter, Computer Lib/Dream Machines (MS Press edition) and The Macintosh Way).
