Welcome guide for new Tumblr friends

Hi friends! Under this post is a thread of common questions about transfem.social, the fediverse, and Sharkey (our custom software platform). Please take a look and see if your question has been answered. If not, then feel free to ask it here. I hope this can be of some help!

@fEmber hi hi, ty for this. is there a straightforward way to reduce whitepsace and maybe reaction sizes? I'm used to tumblr and discord and the whitespace & size here make it hard to see more than a single post at a time, I feel very zoomed in and dont want to screw up my browser settings lol. (I swapped to the classic theme already, I think I prefer it but its hard to say so far)
@coral there's not much control over whitespace, but there are a few settings that can be set to maximize use of screen space.

Go to Client settings -> General and set all of these:
- Note display -> Collapse boosts you've already seen (on).
- Note display -> Collapse files (on).
- Note display -> Load conversation on replies (off).
- Note display -> Always expand long notes (off).
- Note display -> Show a gap between posts on the timeline (off).
- Note display -> Reaction display size (Small).
- Note display -> Note design -> Limits the maximum width of reactions and display them in reduced size (on).
- Appearance -> Font size (smallest).

If you have some technical skill, you can likely conserve much more space by manually tweaking a theme or loading custom CSS.

Beyond that, your best option may be to enable the "Deck" UI which supports multiple columns of posts in a more concise format. I don't have much experience with that, but you can enable it by clicking "More" in the sidebar and then selecting "switch UI".
@fEmber I tried the deck UI and got lost and kinda panicked and went to the classic one instead lol. These settings look like they'll help a lot though, gonna swap them ty.
@coral lol I had the same problem with deck UI. It's really popular with Twitter users, but I just can't get used to it.

Please let me know if the settings help!
