@onrust From what I recall when I heard him, I believe he refers to this

A/RES/37/43 - "Importance of the universal realization of the right of peoples to self-determination and of the speedy granting of independence to colonial countries and peoples for the effective guarantee and observance of human rights."

Adopted by the UN General Assembly at the 90th plenary meeting, 3 Dec. 1982.

@onrust And, more precisely, to this specific extract from A/RES/37/43 (once again, adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1982) ⬇️

@onrust Note that this extract is precisely taken from the same context (as can be checked by reading the document I reference here above).

Indeed, that very same short official UN document strongly condemns Israel (and the Apartheid regime in South Africa, at the time).

It for instance starts with paragraphs such as this one:

@onrust
After saying this, from what I recall, the Dutch representative did further stress that such armed struggle for independence must also comply with international rules (as that logically follows).

It seems to me that all that he said, really, was a extremely cautious, dry, legal, and not courageous recollection of relevant facts from international law.

Still, it's interesting that he recalled this: Palestinians can fight the foreign domination, even with weapons – dixit the UN itself.
