Argh… #verizonfios is down again. After an hour on a (verizon) mobile phone line, they finally agreed to send a service person… “Sometime tomorrow.”
@camstonefaux alas this is why I pay for 2 ISPs. But there's too much work from home not to.
@brophey Essentially I am using my mobile “hotspot” for work, but it isn’t FIOS “GIG-FLOP”

@camstonefaux That must've sucked. :(

The only time I can remember my FiOS going down is when some yahoo somehow sheared the overhead fiber across the street from me. Truck rolled and said, “Well, THERE’S your problem. Let me get my splicing tools.”

@frosty Fiber (FIOS) service here in northern virginia/metro DC is “sketchy” at times. (But hell no, I’m not going back to “COMCRAP!”) They (FIOS) now just run single fiber, and I’m probably going to get off the 1GB line & degrade to a 300mbs line. Those lines are typically on underutilized channels, have better signal strength and not cursed by “gamer kiddos” getting home & online from 3-6pm.

@camstonefaux My FiOS is 300/300 with a static IP address. I used to have 75/75 and was upgraded as a “loyalty”, which I think they just wanted to get rid of the 75 Mbps tier. 😂

It’s been fairly stable in the metro Boston area. To my recall, I can count on less than one hand the number of times I’ve had issues in the past decade.
