I finally got around to reading #JulesVerne 's #fromtheearthtothemoon and while I appreciate the novelty of the idea based on when it was written... I didn't love the style in which it was written. Less story and more delving into really odd detail. *Shrugs. Glad I got to experience it nonetheless.

@hush404 Pre-television/pre-movies writers had to include that level of detail, or how else was the reader going to see? (I don't much like that style either, but I think I sort of grok it a little.)
@phaedral Arguably all books need to do that. But I get it. Especially with concepts very "out there" for the time. Still, I recall afew instances where the author went on in length to name an extensive list of people and places that left me scratching my head as to why. I did read 'journey to the center of the earth' last year and I enjoyed that more. Still some detail length, but it seemed less random. *Shrugs.
