Good news for the Swifties - the complete shutdown of the Werribee and Williamstown lines on the weekend of the concerts has been cancelled/postponed.

There are still smaller closures on some middle/outer parts of the Belgrave and Frankston lines: https://www.metrotrains.com.au/planned-works/

Pity those #Metro knuckleheads couldn't have done the same last Friday night when there was international #cricket at the MCG.

Buses were VERY few and far between and all packed like sardines.
What clown would schedule work on *multiple tracks* on a night like that?
No warning signs on earlier arrival at Richmond station either.๐Ÿ˜‘

@owen3d Yes they absolutely need to provide more buses and staff and better info. Sometimes it's just hopelessly bad.
But I can understand why they didn't cancel all rail shutdowns that night. There's a full program of works, and the ODI was minor in comparison... something like 16,000 people?
@danielbowen @timchuma
Minor crowd or not:
1. They wouldn't have known how many were going to roll up
2. How many buses do you think it takes to move all the required people? Hint: WAY more than they had.
3. Don't need to cancel all works, but don't close 2 lines that run next to one another - I would have taken the 'next door' line and walked further at the other end.
So many basics they just don't get. #ItsNotRocketScience
@danielbowen @timchuma
One more thing to add - they had grossly undermanned staffing who themselves seemed to hardly know what was going on - they were constantly on the phone trying to figure out what was going on.
The signage was non-existant so without asking no-one knew where to be/go.
I felt most sorry for the elderly people who had little idea how to navigate the situation, and talking to the "staff" gave them little more to go on.
You'd think this was the first time they've done this.
@owen3d Yeah, itโ€™s truly appalling how bad some rail replacement operations are, given how many they have run in recent years. Thereโ€™s also a striking difference on resourcing depending on whether itโ€™s initiated by LXRP or Metro, which is just ridiculous.
