that #frontline doc last night had me reflecting on another #January6 precursor which took place in #PDX.

2018-08-04, PORTLAND:
#PPB had set up a designated safe space for the #altright to hold their klan rally, but were trying to check for weapons as a condition of entering the event area. (fascist facebook influencer #JoeyGibson had been making lots of noise about how it would soon be “time for the guns to come out” in his war against portlanders who don’t appreciate nazis murdering their friends). anyway, the out of town fascists (many of whom later did january 6) just refused to enter and held a larger, armed rally right next to the space until they got treated to the spectacle of Portland Police suddenly-but-predictably attacking the anti-nazi #portland residents with near-deadly force.

2021-01-06, DC:
a similar dynamic took place in #DC on #j6 - lots of the #MAGA fascists didn’t want to go through the metal detectors and have their weapons confiscated in order to watch their would-be dictator give one more of his trademark syphilitic rants, so they just waited nearby until it was time to do the putsch. according to the #J6Committee this made #trump really angry (no joke: because it made the crowd look smaller on camera) and he demanded that the metal detectors be removed.

@rexi yeah just a whole lot of stuff they did during the actual putsch was stuff they did at least once (often repeatedly) in PDX before that, and every time with the assistance (or at least conspicuous “blind eye”) of oregon law enforcement.

thats without even mentioning the feds, who apparently helped PBs plan their violent rallies in PDX (per informant Biggs), and who I guess didn’t mind all those same fascists repeatedly crossing state lines to do violent crimes for years on end.

I’m def not positing a conspiracy or anything, just saying that US cops generally hold fascist politics; and predictable outcomes flowed from their starkly uneven enforcement habits.

@rexi the way Joe Biggs talked about his pdx plans before 2019-08-17 on infowars is pretty illuminating.

he didn’t follow through with a lot of it that particular day, but it certainly bore fruit with some of the stuff that went down on j6.
