finally, it's ready

We are Bulletproof: the Eternal by BTS [piano cover]

"we were only seven
but we have you all now

tell me your every story
tell me why you don't stop this?
tell me why you're still walking,
walking with us

we are, we are, together, bulletproof
now we have you, have you
we are, we are, forever, bulletproof
and we got to heaven"

what to say about this one... it's my longest cover yet, at 4:26, but it honestly doesn't feel that long when i'm playing it? except when i get to the last part and my wrists are like help ma we're tired 😭

probably the hardest thing was trying to make all the disparate parts of the song make sense cohesively on the piano/expressively. for a few hours i didn't think i could do it, but somehow the magic of 💫practicing💫 and downtime came thru 🔥

it's also been slightly over 5 months since i first sat down and plonked around with this song; by september i think i had a full draft and by november i was trying to record it but i just never had the time to work on it properly till now!! it's really long but more than that there are so many variations where the changes are in the littlest details. why?? why so complex?? how do tannies remember all the changes?? (ok they have lyrics to help, the melodic changes are pegged to certain words)

and that's the lovely thing about this song - the melodies are written to mean different things: "we were only seven" "now we have you, have you" "and we got to heaven" are all different only by one note. "yeah we are not seven with you" builds on all 3 and extends it. it's such pleasurable songwriting

now that i've broken the song down for myself and lost myself in the flow of playing it... right now i think this is the song i most want to see live and be brought away by it. i know i'll cry.

but why did i write an arrangement that was so reliant on the littlest finger of the left hand to keep the beat steady 🙄 help. the repetitive and even hammer action!! no wonder my wrists hurt
