Does there exist some sort of bike lock that is a wire on a spool, that you just drag out of its box and around a pole to lock it up?

Not the safest thing for long time storage, of course, but I think it could be a more hassle free way of just parking for a quick pop-in to a shop or a café or something than having to use a normal lock.

Anyone heard of something like this?

"Cafe Lock" is a thing for short term stops where you're mostly somewhat keeping an eye on your bike, but I would never use any lock that is vulnerable to a pair of diagonal cutters.

@artemesia @forteller my bike came with a pre-installed cafe lock. I only rely on it solo for brief errands when I’m nearby - it’s enough to deter a casual theft but not much more.
@kimu Is that one of those that just lock the back wheel, or does it let you lock it to something? @artemesia
@forteller @artemesia it just locks the back wheel. I just got an extender that clips into it so you can lock it to something, but it’s a bit bulky.
@forteller While these locks do exist, I do not think they would sell as bike locks, simply because they are not anywhere near good enough.
@forteller I've used Kensington locks (laptop locks) to lock the kids' push bikes back in the days.
@forteller Jeg har hatt noen slike en gang i tiden, det betyr at det har vært i salg på enten Biltema eller claser'n 😆 Det var nok dog minst 15 år siden...
