@adam mate

this is about newbies

@graphite that was not mentioned in the question

@graphite

if you had to choose on desktop

@graphite im going to be that guy

For Desktop use for beginners, PopOS is the absolute best in my experience
@graphite I've shilled it successfully to four people by now and they've all been happy
@privateger OH YES I FORGOT ABOUT THIS

thanks for being that guy
@graphite They’re both enshitified distros. But the voters obviously don’t know that Mint’s docs are in the exclusive walled-garden of Cloudflare. Mint devs don’t give a shit about digital rights and are unfit to maintain a distro.
@digitalRightsNinja I mean, cloudflare offers DDoS protection that's necessary for some projects

I'm not a fan of them, but it's not like they're completely useless

@graphite Cloudflare creates a #walledGarden that /excludes/ people from access. Making OS doc access exclusive is incompetent and elitist.

Most distros have figured out how to stay online without excluding various groups from access to their docs. Debian, in particular.

@digitalRightsNinja Debian has a lot of funding though
@graphite Ubuntu starts with Debian’s work. Then Mint takes from Ubuntu. All that investment is covered by Debian and Ubuntu and Mint merely adds some frills to a well-documented distro and introduce PPAs (a means for proprietary pkgs). Then Mint produces their own docs which they then exclude others from in a discriminatory manner. They have effectively enshitified a distro that includes everyone. If they can’t figure out how to retain the inclusivity of the source work, they shouldn’t touch it in the first place.
@digitalRightsNinja that's not enshittification

they didn't take value away from the users to themselves
