@MHowell likely not. Still crazy. I watched this happen with David Blatt in Cleveland and couldn’t believe it then.

I am sure the back story will come out eventually. There is a new owner, too, so it could be a lot of factors. It would be a hard task to come in this far along in the season and bring a cohesive team to the playoffs.

@MHowell luckily for them they have so much talent on that roster that they’ll likely be able to sleep walk into the playoffs. What happens then remains to be seen. I’m guessing they end up with Doc Rivers.

@MHowell it’s a good hire for them. Honestly, that’s the kind of coach they should have been looking at all along. In my opinion anyway.

@drewhall @MHowell Is it a good hire? Doc hasn't gotten out of the second round in forever, multiple chokes after going up 3-1. I think he's a good coach, but idk if a team who's looking for a championship should go with him.

(Also firing Blatt led to the Lue hire which got Cleveland their championship)

@itzyg @MHowell it’s as good a hire as you’re going to get in the middle of the season. For where that organization is right now, he’s a steady hand that I suspect will do a good job. It’ll likely be his last chance to shed the reputation as a coach who can’t get it done in the playoffs.

I’m not saying the Cavs were wrong to fire Blatt, but the circumstances remain nearly unprecedented.

I don't know if it's a good hire, that's just who reporters said was being discussed. I guess we'll have to wait and see if it's a good decision in hindsight. I'm assuming Horst felt that Griffin didn't have what it took to take the team thru the playoffs, and decided cutting bait now had the better chance of preserving the goal of another championship. We'll see...
