The fact that you can't authenticate to Github from a serverless web app, keeping the credentials entirely within the browser, is probably singlehandedly holding back the movement to freedom from other platforms as a service.

The fact that we're still copying and pasting API keys and running servers _just_ to proxy stored data in 2023 is appalling.
