Oregon winter storm: Teen recounts saving baby after she saw 3 people electrocuted
An Oregon teen who saved a baby during an ice storm in Portland is being praised for her heroism. Majiah Washington shared her story at a news conference Thursday. The 18-year-old said she noticed a flash outside of her home Wednesday, then opened her blinds and saw a red SUV with a downed power line on it. Her 21-year-old pregnant neighbor screamed at her boyfriend to save the 9-month-old baby who was still in the vehicle. The boyfriend grabbed the baby and headed up a driveway, but then slid on ice and made contact with the live wire. The neighbor and her 15-year-old brother also tried to save the baby and were electrocuted. Washington was able to crouch down and pull the baby free, unharmed.
