It's bad enough when you come across an antisemitic folk tale featuring "blood libel" - i.e. a slander that claimed that Jews ritually killed a Christian child.

It's worse when the author of the folk tale collection basically says:

"Some would claim that this story was made up to justify the pogroms in the area, but I find this scarcely credible. I mean, you know what Jews are like, right?"
