In case you were wondering, yes, they still sell TP by the mile (plus a little extra)
@jerry I'm missing something, that's in feet?
@jerry nevermind, Google answered it.
Imperial is whack y'all.
@ku7 it's an amazingly odd relationship between feet and miles

@jerry I'm sure it's some equally unusual combination of yards, links, chains, and other stuff in-between?

If I'm to trust television, maybe it's feet, yards, football fields, Eiffel towers, miles?

Okay, I'm done mocking that system for now lol.

@ku7 I've mostly moved to fathoms, hands, and stones as units of measure now

@jerry pretty sure I remember horse enthusiasts using those units when I was.... really young.

At least link and chain had a nice multiple of 100 :)

I only know they existed because old survey papers of where I lived was measured in chains!

@ku7 I have to admit I'm not familiar with chains as a unit of measure. I know there are some weird ones out there

@jerry it's everywhere in colonisation documents.

https://wiki.gis.com/wiki/index.php/Chain_(length)

A chain is a unit of length; it measures 66 feet or 22 yards or 4 rods or 100 links[1] (20.1168m). There are 10 chains in a furlong, and 80 chains in one statute mile. An acre is the area of 10 square chains (that is, an area of one chain by one furlong). The chain has been used for several centuries in Britain and in some other countries influenced by British practice.
