I recently did my 25,000th edit on Wikidata 🎉

Mostly working on improving the data about @DOAJ listed diamond open access journals at the moment: inception dates, publishers, copyright licencing, country of origin, ISSNs et cetera

https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Metacladistics

It's the item merges I'm most proud of - that requires some careful sleuthing sometimes...

I should probably use QuickStatements more https://quickstatements.toolforge.org/#/

But I'm not sure that some of the complicated things _can_ be entered via QuickStatements e.g. in the screenshot. Or I'm just not smart enough to work out how to do it via quickstatements 😂

Doing it 'manually' is slower but the manual inspection does allow for time to appreciate the beauty of bibliodiversity that's out there 🥰

@DOAJ should be congratulated for providing excellent data dumps here: https://doaj.org/docs/public-data-dump/

Those data dumps make it so much easier to re-use data across into Wikidata and elsewhere

Directory of Open Access Journals – DOAJ

DOAJ is a unique and extensive index of diverse open access journals from around the world, driven by a growing community, committed to ensuring quality content is freely available online for everyone.

I get the feeling that many people who have a poor opinion of diamond open access just haven't looked, or have only looked at the very worst examples. There's so many gems out there!

@rmounce it feels mostly as though they're just innately sceptical of what they don't know - a fear of the unknown rather than a rational critique
@rmounce Thank you! We're ready to integrate Wikidata IDs into our metadata too. (Dom)
