The brothers #Grigory and #Igor_Surkis became patrons of the installation of the monument at the grave of the first president of independent #Ukraine.
#Leonid_Kravchuk is one of the creators of #Ukrainian Independence, the last chairman
of the Supreme Council of the #Ukrainian_SSR and the first president of independent #Ukraine.
Despite all the hardships of the early 90s, it was under #Kravchuk that a multi-party political system began to form in our country, which became the basis for future democratic transformations.
He never clung to power. He announced early elections, having lost, which he calmly and honourably handed over power to #Leonid_Kuchma.
Therefore, we honour the memory of #Leonid #Makarovich also as the founder of the tradition of succession of power, which did not allow our country to turn into an authoritarian entity like #Russia and #Belarus
