Whenever you reject utopian thought for political realism remember that to a peasant 500 years ago your life today would've seemed utopian, and that the rights you have today were once believed to be too much to ask for, or even too much to ever be possible.
@ErikUden Just that we don't have another 500 years. #ClimateCrisis will kill us before that.
@atarifrosch yup, that's why it's time to ask for “utopian” things TODAY! Whatever works today would've worked 500 years ago. We should expect corporations to be expropriated, we should expect to stop all expulsion of carbon dioxide TODAY and it IS realistic. More realistic than having our species go extinct due to said climate crisis...
@ErikUden @atarifrosch
But can that be done without reverting to feudalism, to a tyrannous church, and to a low-technology society in which life was more nasty, brutal and short?

@ErikUden even if we can’t have the utopia of 500 years from now right away, it’s still something to aim for. We have to get through this year to get through next year to get through the next few centuries, so why wait. Biased political realism, or political realism with a mission.

To that end, I’m going to work this year on getting local non-profits in my area sharing strategies and opportunities and looking a bit longer term. Hopefully by sharing some of the work it won’t be too hard.

@ErikUden Looks like a false opposition to me.
Marxism pretty much rejects idealism and isn't exactly thrown in the bucket of "political realism" in common speak
