@khleedril @led @nixCraft No, they’re not. HP laptops have caused me the most headaches with Linux.
I had as it is sworn off HP products, and this just cements my position. No more HP crap in my ad hoc fleet that extends to family and friends.
@led We've alerted you several times that this oscilloscope had non-Original HP test leads installed. This is your final notice to fix the issue. **Remove the indicated test leads and install Original HP test leads instead.**
If you continue to use non-Original HP test leads on this oscilloscope now, or in the future, you will lose your HP+ benefits and features such as Square Wave Test Tone™. Using only original HP test leads is a requirement of your HP+ Oscilliscope.
@nixCraft
@Frank_Engelhard I've heard that Standard Oil did that, but always assumed it was in their home market. This is the first time I hear the phrase. Thanks! I'm one of today's lucky 10000.
@nixCraft
Idea: regulate such that printers and printer inks can not be manufactured or sold by companies within the same corporate/conglomerate/ownership structure.
Give them the option of instead following an open source standard for the cartridges and ban any and all forms of the machines or software even checking the manufacturer of the cartridges. Then they can do both.
Can I get the Pirate Party on board with this?

@nixCraft Neighbour bought an HP printer, fortunately she couldn't get it working so asked for help and I was in time to get her to send it back and buy a Brother. That not only works out of the box it will take other ink if needed.
HP of old is long gone. Even a decade ago I had some PA-RISC hardware to return and I asked HP and nobody in HP even knew what PA-RISC was let alone how to return them, so I stuck em in a box and parcelforced them to a random HP office
@nixCraft If this notice was any more threatening sounding, it'd be handed to you by a process server along with a lawsuit.
Granted, no clue what kind of laws they could sue you under for using refilled cartridges, buuuut
Could we get a little more context here? I can't find anything to confirm this is authentic.
The HP Special Cartridge Response Team is now outside your house. This is your final final notice. Once we issue the breach order we cannot guarantee your safety as guaranteed safety is only a feature of the HP plus plan.
