I'm going to WordCamp Asia in Taipei! ✈️

I just booked the tickets. I'm excited to explore Taiwan and am starting on an itinerary.

What are fun/interesting/cool things to check out in Taiwan? I'll be there for a whole month!

@zackkatz
1. Make sure to spend some time at the #EastCoast: #Hualien and #Taroko Gorge, #Taitung in particular.
2. Give the #South some love: #Tainan is the spiritual and historic capital of Taiwan with plenty of old buildings and temples, #Kaohisung is a rough and industrial harbor city reinventing itself.
3. Get an #EasyCard upon entering Taiwan and charge it with NTD 500.- for a start - makes using public transport super simple!
Will be in #Taipei that week as well, for the Cycle Show.
@zackkatz Go south. #Taipei has a lot of things to see but Taipei is not #Taiwan. Spend a week in Chiayi and #Tainan.
@dlupham @zackkatz train makes it stupid easy and convenient to do so
@zackkatz I will limit myself to three: 1. The best trails in #Taroko Gorge need to be booked in advance, so I recommend doing this as early as possible if you are interested in going there. 2. In #Kaohsiung, explore the historic buildings and enjoy the view from Mount Cihou 旗後砲臺步道. 3. Take a ferry to Lüdao 綠島 and rent a scooter at the harbor to drive to the many sights on the green island. You can see most of them in a day, but I recommend a stay of two days.

@janmschnurr Oh, that’s good to know! I definitely want to go to Taroko Gorge.

And scooting around green island? Sounds amazing—it’s on the list. 👍 🛵

Thanks for sharing!

@zackkatz Would love to connect and say hi in person. I’m not sure my schedule fully yet, but will be at the contributor day and at the Jetpack booth for a good amount of time.
@kraft That’d be great! I hope to see you there. I’ll come by the Jetpack booth.
