I finished my first sock finally, it did get benched a bit after initial cast on

It is slightly big so adjusting my calculations a bit and will do another pair and leave this as a sample/prototype (I'm currently using cheap yarn to learn).

I know I will need to re-calculate gauge with another yarn, but with one sock that fits nicely I can measure some parts of that and translate to the gauge of the new yarn, hopefully.

@annascrafts @knitting @fiberarts My approach to sock gauge, which I learned when I started and has always served me well, is to measure round the ball of the foot, convert that to the equivalent number of stitches, then subtract ten percent (because you want negative ease in a sock). And then round to the number of stitches needed for the pattern repeat
@RexMagenta @annascrafts my approach was “they will fit someone, surely”, so now I have a pair that was intended for my husband and vice versa :)
@venite @annascrafts That works too :D
