Amos Oz - Scenes from Village Life
I could have sworn I read half of this some time ago but I picked it off the bookshelf last night (mainly because I was looking for something short!) and it is completely new to me. Must be confusing it with another Oz work.
Will add some running notes to this thread.
The flap description calls this "a novel in stories" -- I love these sort of works, even if I can't recall a bunch of them off the top! But I am thinking of something like...

The vignettes in these works are connected more by place than story.
The stories of #BrunoSchulz too -- Streets of Crocodiles, I think?
