Richard Brockie@ErikUden When I was a summer postman in Scotland, the guy on the neighbouring delivery walk was prosecuted for opening and stealing from birthday cards.
@RichardBrockie what.... what happened to him?
@ErikUden I recall vaguely a report in the local paper about the prosecution. I probably heard about it from my parents as I was away at university. Presumably some jail time?
@ErikUden The story in the sorting office at the time was that marked notes with UV sensitive ink were sent to an address on his walk. When they didn’t arrive he was asked to put his hands under UV light revealing he had handled the notes. I suspect it was a very easy case to prosecute.
In retrospect I was probably also a suspect as our sorting frames were adjacent giving me potential opportunity. That would have been a real scandal: “son of the manse” etc.
