@packetcat great article. the thing is, if they used a little restraint, and dialed in the settings to preserve artifacts like film grain properly, they could probably do a decent enough job -- in cases where no 4K transfer is available, and the best we've got is a TV transfer tape or, god forbid, an anamorphic DVD.
but instead they've dialled it up to Mondo Smooth Mode and created these garish oil painting monstrosities.
