It’s been a few years since I had an issue with Lowe’s but it’s close to the anniversary so a story thread:

I came home and needed to use my disposal (garburator), and put something down it that it should have been able to handle; it didn’t and I couldn’t reset or clear it. I killed it. So I found the same model, new (so I thought), at Lowe’s This location is literally three minutes away from my house. (1/3)

I buy the new disposal and hire a plumber. But I didn’t notice how mangled the box seemed, and it was the only one. When the plumber opened the box, he saw that the unit looked like it has been partially disassembled and bits were missing, something I completely missed because I was desperate. He had the very same model in his truck but I’d have to pay extra. (2/3)

I was able to return the box, and specifically told them not to restock this item, which they do if they can. I also asked them for the store manager’s name. I wrote to the manager, and got no response. I found the district manager and sent an email. I said: I have lived in my home longer than that location has existed and I said that I go there for my hardware needs but I spent more money than I expected.

I told them that the difference between the refund and what I spent is $69 (nice) and that I would continue to shop at Lowe’s but spend my first $69 at Home Depot before returning. They sent me a gift card for that difference.

@awhitis

@thealmostbear I’ll still favor Lowe’s when I can because of Home Depot’s ties to conservative causes (including, up to recently, support for trump.)
@Hoot There is that too. A friend of mine has been telling me (sadly) that it was bad but the last few years have been worse. He used to work for them in another part of the country.
