Angehängt: 1 Bild Tomorrow #Threads is coming to #Europe, and I'm more than a little bit curious, how it will play out. That's where we stand @heiseonline regarding #Traffic from #X/Twitter and its main competitors right now. It's more quick and dirty than my other ones. Keep in mind, that there's a substantial amount of traffic from #Mastodon, that we currently don't see (because of the #preview cutting of the URL): I'm pretty sure, that Mastodon has already overtaken #Twitter. #Bluesky is far, far behind.

@chartier does anyone remember the downfall of IRC because EFnet let AOL connect? Same.
AOL booted off chat network

America Online's 13 million members have been kicked off EFNet, the oldest and largest Internet relay chat network, due to operational disagreements between AOL and EFNet administrators.

@chartier I always wondered how such integration is supposed to handle the moderation problem... Meta (or any similar for profits social media) is supposed to have safe content and they can't rely on moderation outside because its standards may very differ between instances, hence they just can't admit all traffic from Fediverse. And there's no way to check it all (maybe LLMs can handle it later?).
@semoriil That’s an interesting point. They’re connecting to a new network they have no control over. I imagine they’ll have to adopt the same tactics of muting, blocking/defederating the rest of us have.

@rbos @joyoftech Oh I didn't know they were here. Hey y'all, followed!
@chartier love that the last frame makes you go back and check the previous. And of course it’s there. 🧑‍🍳👌🏻 @joyoftech
