Sadly there isn't really an open alternative to #maxqda and it doesn't seem to run on #linux with wine. Is there some weird winecfg magik I can do to make it work?

@realsimon – Has anyone tried #QualCoder? It is billed as a open alternative to #MaxQDA and runs on both #Windows and #Linux. See here: https://github.com/ccbogel/QualCoder/wiki

I'd be curious to hear how people like it. Not into qualitative analysis myself (except for the occasional #TEI encoding), but people around me encounter similar issues with #MaxQDA.

@christof @tipap thanks, I think that will do. I had already dismissed qualcoder because I couldn't get it to run but now it magically works. Computers are weird.

@christof @tipap my report: qualcoder sadly feels and looks pretty archaic and meagre compared to maxqda, so maxqda is pretty much unrivalled. I have the urge to make a proper open source alternative myself, If only I knew how to code
