While PV module manufacturing seems to be bad businss and Finnish manufacturer #Valoe just went bankrupt, land owners in rural areas can get much higher annual rents from solar farms (over 500€/ha) than from agriculture (150-300€/ha) or forestry (150-200€/ha).

The local utility in Oulu is building a 9,5MW solar farm to run heat pumps for district heating, covering 7 months per year or 60% of annual heat demand. The rest comes from biomass boilers.
