Do you know what we haven't had for a while? An exciting thread of Kate putting up trim...

#diy #woodworking #badly

After an excessively long amount of time, I have finally installed the two tiny pieces of skirting board either side of the front door. These ridiculous tiny pieces have taken me more than 3 years to get in and install.
I have also finally installed the trim at the inside of the top of both bathroom doors. And on our en suite, I have finally installed the top piece of trim that sits in the bedroom above the bathroom door. This just leaves trimming the inside of the bathroom doors which I can then at long last caulk.

And because I'm just too exciting for words... Here's a before and after of a piece of hallway trim.

It's pretty thrilling, so restrain yourselves.

Okay, so after that excitement here's something a little less exciting.... For you.

For me, this is the first piece of trim in our office! Woop!

Also, the only bit I can do today.

And I can't really attach it properly to the wall because there's a filing cabinet in the way.

If you're new to these exciting threads of wild #diy debauchery, and are wondering why are trim is taking such an interminable amount of time for me to install... Basically it's a rod we made for our own back.
The entire house is plastered with lime plaster which is not flat or near zero thickness like modern drywall skimming is. That means every piece of trim has to be cut to fit the curvy weirdly shaped surfaces. And because at the base where the tiles meet the wall, I quite often accidentally got tile adhesive onto the base of the walls. Not worrying because that's where the trim goes... I also have to scrape off the excess material every time.

And now it's time for a quick fire round of "where the hell are the pipes."

Today we'll be cheating by looking at my flickr.

Okay, not the greatest shot. But it proves I did, as I thought, remove the two misplaced hot/cold pipes, and that the vent pipe is about 14" from the window base. Excellent.

And it's in. Just two more pieces I can put in without my wife home and then a bunch more measuring and cutting.
This one was an absolute mare to cut, but it's super exciting to get it in. (I'm really breaking for lunch but figured I could do this while the egg water boiled).

I nearly forgot to post this. This was the last piece that went in, and then I went and had some tea. This concludes today's exciting journey into "How Kate spends her spare time."

Stay tuned tomorrow for angry ranting from the emergency department nurse.

@pyoor Actually is, this looks so good!
