Do any of you #trans folks out there know if there is a #hashtag for people who are #transitioning late in life?

I'm a 50+ year old #transwoman who is looking to share experiences.

@natalie_romana

I've not seen anything in common use. So why not make one?

@janetlogan @natalie_romana We absolutely should! :)

#TransCrones? ;)

@miriamrobern @natalie_romana

Or to be more gender inclusive, #TransElders ?

@IsabelB suggested #transatfifty and #transatsixty . Those I have seen a few times.

@janetlogan @natalie_romana @IsabelB Trans Elders usually means folk who’ve transitioned a while ago, who might be younger. Folks who are two or more years into transition are my trans elders even when they in their 20s! ;)

Trans time is weird.

@miriamrobern

You know what that makes me right? #TransElder (to you anyway) , #TransCrone , and #TransAtSixty .

I started HRT 12+ years ago, and actually began transition (the first time) in 2009.

Yeah, trans time is weird.
@natalie_romana @IsabelB

@miriamrobern @janetlogan @natalie_romana @IsabelB heterotemporality and QueerTime™️ are vastly different beasts. The studies and books written on this subject show a great incongruence between what we 'expect' and what we need.
@miriamrobern @janetlogan @IsabelB Mood.
I definitely wouldn't call myself a trans elder, not nearly enough lived experience other than being disphoric for nearly 40 years while never figuring out that's what I was feeling.
Being autistic while trans can really do your head in.

@natalie_romana

Yes it can.

I only just self-DX as #ActuallyAutistic a few months ago. Been #trans all my life, but only figured it out at about 49ish. Transitioned at 51, detransitioned for a couple of years to care for my late wife, then started again at 53.

My life has been complicated and traumatic in more than one way. And I'm still here. I'm a tough old lady.

@miriamrobern @IsabelB

@janetlogan @miriamrobern @IsabelB I was pretty much flipped.
Knew I was different from childhood but didn't know why. Was diagnosed as 'Gifted' at 10, and hooboy did that fuck me up during my teens. Got my autism diagnosis at 32 together with my 4yo son, only figured out I was also trans at 49. Been publicly out since may this year, and am finally going to start at a gender clinic for a formal diagnosis in the next month. (Cursed waiting lists)

@natalie_romana

Oh, yeah, "gifted" was definitely a fun one. I was maybe 9 or 10 when I first got that one too. Did the whole TAG class thing until I moved to a district where they had no such thing. By then (high school junior) they had nothing of significance to offer me academically. Fun times.

@miriamrobern @IsabelB

@janetlogan @miriamrobern @natalie_romana @IsabelB I like #TransAtFifty and #TransAtSixty, although it doesn't highlight the difference between being trans at 50 or 60 and transitioning at those ages.
