Further to my last, my natural #accent is #Mancunian. Like, proper Manc. As in could-be-in-Oasis Manc.

I now have more of a cultured Manc accent, as in it’s difficult to work out where I’m from other than “definitely #northern”.

There are hints of #Scouser and a bit of #Stokie, overlaid on a base of posher #Manc.

Until that is I either go home, or speak to another proper Manc. Then it automatically reverts back to natural and there’s not a shred of doubt where I’m from.

#Manchester

I don’t even know it happens until it’s pointed out to me. Like the first time I took Kat to meet my Auntie in #Denton.

We’d been there about 15 minutes, chatting away, when Aunty Di left the room for a moment at which point Kat looked at me and whispered “What are you talking like that for??”

I didn’t have a clue what she meant.
Turns out she’d just met the real me after knowing me for almost 5 years. 🙂

I used to lapse into Texan-New Mexican southern around the family, but that generation is gone now, along with my ability to speak it aside from deploying an occasional y'all.
