‘We will coup whoever we want!’: the unbearable hubris of Musk and the billionaire tech bros

Challenging each other to cage fights, building apocalypse bunkers – the behaviour of today’s mega-moguls is becoming increasingly outlandish and imperial

@jeffjarvis @invalidname Wish these assholes were more like Andrew Carnegie. My small town on the west coast of Canada, thousands of miles from the action in New York, or Chicago, was even a benefactor of something real and lasting from that man-- a library. https://www.historicplaces.ca/en/rep-reg/place-lieu.aspx?id=1474

In my 46 year career, now retired, I've met lots of billionaires- including Gates and Steve Jobs. Most, not all, have a large chip on their shoulder and expect instant respect for everything they've accomplished. We should thank them profusely because of their success and acknowledge they are special. Most are assholes that look after themselves first and almost no one or thing is second.
Tax them painfully but allow tax credits when they use their wealth to benefit society.
@jeffjarvis Pretty sure the changing climate will scuttle most of their plans at world domination. Also, they are spectacularly gifted in assholery.
@jeffjarvis i would have loved to see Rushkoff compare Thiel's Palantir to the media-analysis future-distilling system that Watchmen archvillain Ozymandias uses to commit archvillain conspiracies
