@graceghughes What happens to the snake when the chicks leave the nest?

@NickSchwanck @graceghughes
Nothing good it seems:

… given the fact that the snakes are still sometimes eaten by the owlets (and don't survive well once the nest is vacated), this might really by a commensal relationship, where one species reaps a benefit and the other does its best to deal with the situation.

Screech owls keep blind snakes as live-in housekeepers

There's a very good reason why eastern screech owls like to share their nests with the tiny Texas blind snake.

@toolbear @graceghughes Thank you for the reply. It's fascinating.

Just betas trying to make the flanges around their necks look bigger than they are.

My husband just told me how Tina Fey and Matt Damon took the piss out of LEGEND OF THE GUARDIANS: THE OWLS OF GA'HOOLE on the show 30 Rock. The episode is called "Double Edged Sword" (you'll need to watch the full episode, the clips leave off the comedy gold).

Matt Damon as Carol — an adult airline pilot — goes all reverant weepy teenager over the edgelord owls because Carol couldn't handle a woman disagreeing with him. The escalation during the waiting on the tarmac scenes is comedy gold.
